Abstract

Constrained by factors such as human and material resources, the random grouping test used in product reliability assessments encounters challenges such as block effects and censored observations. These challenges compound the difficulty and reduce the precision of evaluations. This study introduces a mixed-effects model designed to capture both fixed and random effects within the group data of a degraded product in an aerospace system. Utilizing the maximum likelihood estimation and the best linear unbiased prediction method, the parameters of the mixed-effects model are estimated and lifespan predictions are conducted. A comparison of the results with a traditional model is provided to demonstrate the enhanced performance of the proposed model.
