Abstract

In the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction operation, it is very important that the insertion points are ensured and the reconstructed ACL satisfies the isometric characteristic. Recurring to the video track camera, a navigation system of simulation evaluation and insertion points planning was implemented based on quadrant of femur and "46%" of tibia on the lateral X-ray image of knee joint. Then the key technologies such as image correction, C-arm calibration, video tracking, reconstructing surfaces algorithm, and image fusion were introduced. With this system, 8 plastics was implemented and the accuracy of the characteristic points was validated. The maximal error of the insertion point was 2.59 mm with the mean 1.59 mm. The feasibility of this method was preliminarily verified by implementing ACL reconstruction planning using two X-ray images. The positioning error of insertion point could meet the requirement of the clinical application.
