A three-finger dexterous hand with suction cups integrated on fingertips

Abstract

This study introduces a three-finger dexterous hand with integrated suction cups on the fingertips. The dexterous hand has 8 degrees of freedom and is driven by rigid linkage. The movement and arrangement of the fingers refer to human hand. Each fingertip integrates a suction cup and is cast in silicone. This design expands the grasping ability of the dexterous hand and simplifies the grasping action. We make a physical prototype of this dexterous hand and perform grasping experiment. Results of the experiments prove the effectiveness and practicality of this design.
