Abstract

A 3-D resonant-triad theoretical model is proposed for the turbulent coherent structures in near-wall region of a turbulent boundary layer. In accordance with the theoretical model, the dissipation-rate of turbulent kinetic energy is calculated. On the base of conventional k - ε model, the mean velocity profile is computed by using the theoretical in stead of computing the transport equation of ε. The theoretical results are in good agreement . with those found from DNS. It shows that the theoretical method proposed can correctly embody the physical mechanism of near wall region turbulence and highlights a possibility of opening a new way for near-wall turbulence modeling.
