A study on the test methods of cornering braking for tractor-semitrailer combination

Abstract

Cornering braking performance has significant influence on the braking safety of tractor-semitrailer combination. Aiming at the problems of the lack of test standard for the cornering braking of tractor-semitrailer combination in China and the unsuitability of conventional test device for tractor-semitrailer combination, an exploratory study on the cornering braking of tractor-semitrailer combination is conducted in terms of the construction and installation of test system as well as test method and evaluation. The results show that the lateral acceleration, braking deceleration, raw rate and the pitch angle of tractor rise with the increase of vehicle speed, and it is recommended that the vehicle speed should not exceed 30 km/h and the turning radius should not less than 25m during the cornering braking of tractor-semitrailer combination.
