Abstract

Finite element modeling has been widely used in theoretical study of orthodontic biomechanics. However, the dental structure is complicate and it is time-consuming for traditional finite element meshes method. This restricts the application of finite element analysis of individual orthodontic treatment in clinic. In this paper, a novel software is developed, which includes the functions of semi-automatic teeth segmentation of patient-specific denture, 3D reconstruction and visualization of dental structure, 3D measurement of geometrical characteristics, simulation of tooth movement, and automatic generation of finite element meshes. This software may be used for patient-specific biomechanical analysis in orthodontics.
