N2 - This paper proposed a security monitoring and alarm system based on ZigBee technology, which was used to lessen the workloads in nursing homes. This system can monitor five physiological states of the elderly, including urine in bed, ambulation, falling, position and accidents in the washroom. This paper first introduced the whole structure of the monitoring system, then introduced each function module in detail. In order to measure the utility of the monitoring system, Sijiqing nursing home in Beijing tested the system and experiments proved that the system met its requirements.
