Abstract

In this paper, we propose a secure semi-fragile self-recoverable watermarking algorithm using group-based wavelet quantization. The image is split into image blocks with size 16×16. A 5-bit authentication watermark is generated from the first-order statical moments of each image block, and embedded into the mid-frequency bands of another image block by our proposed group-based wavelet quantization method. Security is enhanced by randomly permutating coefficients among a group. Robustness is improved by embedding watermark in largest coefficient inside a sub-group based on significant difference parity quantization (SDPQ) method. Moreover, all adjacent blocks of the test block and its mapping block are taken into account to improve localization accuracy. Experimental comparisons with existing techniques highlight the effectiveness of the proposed watermarking approach.
