Abstract

The Radar CroΒ Section (RCS) measurement of the installed conformal antenna is a difficult problem. Using ultra low RCS carrier or choosing scattering location of the antenna after the imaging is existing measurement methods with different iΒues. The method of carrier cancellation can effectively preserve the antenna mode scattering under the premise of eliminating the influence of the carrier, but it has certain requirements for the carrier. In this paper, a measurement carrier is designed based on a cone-shape with tip cutting by a plane, which is lower than -15 dBsm both HH and VV polarization between 1-6GHz frequency domain in large angle range. Applying the carrier cancellation method, equivalent background level of the conformal antenna RCS mounted on the carrier up to -50 dBsm, meeting the general conformal antenna scattering measurement requirements.
