Abstract
By applying incremental harmonic balance method with vibration amplitude as control parameter, the expression of equation solutions is obtained and the phenomena of bifurcation and limit cycle vibration are analyzed and verified numerically by Runge-Kutta method. The results indicate that the incremental harmonic balance method is effective and reliable with adequate accuracy in analyzing steering wheels shimmy of vehicle. Then, the stability of periodic solution is analyzed using Floquet theory, and the stability of limit cycle is determined. Finally, the influences of system parameters on steering wheel shimmy are analyzed.
