Abstract

Human neuron action potential detection has a great application in the field of neurosciences and neurotherapy. However, traditional technology can hardly perform a non-invasive action potential (AP) detection for small axon such as human neuron axon. We propose a new AP detection method by measuring the AP induced magnetic pulse signal utilizing nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in nanodiamond. This method can theoretically achieve effective detection of a 10 μm diameter neuron axon.
