A pedagogical introduction to the replica method for glasses

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In this paper I present a simplified version of the recent computation (Mézard and Parisi 1998, Phys. Rev. Lett., 82, 747; 1999, J. chem. Phys., 111, 1076) of the properties of glasses in the low temperature phase in the framework of the replica theory, using an extension of the tools used in liauid theory. I will consider here only the case of the internal energy at T = 0, which can be studied in a simple way without introducing replicas.
