A novel flat linear switched reluctance motor with doubly-excited windings

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

In this paper, a novel flat linear switched reluctance motor with doubly-excited windings is presented. The simple structure of this motor has the advantages of the switched reluctance motor and the linear motor. The structure of doubly-excited windings also help to enhance the thrust force. The operating principle and schematic structure are shown in this paper. The thrust force is formulated by using the method called equivalent magnetic circuits, and the result of mathematical formulation is verified by simulation analysis. The paper shows that the introduce of stator windings in the motor can enhance thrust force compared with conventional LSRM. In addition, the doubly-excited windings on both mover and stator can make the machine more compact and enhance the machinery force density.
