Abstract

Traditional linear stepped frequency continuous wave (SFCW) radar synthesizes a series of coherent pulses to get a wide bandwidth ,which are distributed at many frequency points with equal intervals f. In some fast applications, to guarantee a high sweep rate, the total number of frequency points is limited. Thus the unambiguous range which is inverse proportional to the sweep intervals is usually small. In order to reduce the total frequency number, this paper proposes an optimized non-uniform frequency distribution and introduces an weighting method to suppress the sidelobe levels. Experimental results demonstrate the good performance for ambiguity suppression and near-in sidelobe characteristics.
