Abstract
The title compound, sodium cobalt(II) phosphate, a new polymorph of NaCoPO4, crystallizes as a monoclinic modification of the zeolite ABW structure. The five-coordinate Na+ cations reside within channels running through an open cobalt-phosphate framework constructed from four-, six- and eight-membered rings of alternating CoO4 and PO4 tetrahedra. The channels are enclosed by the eight-membered rings.
