Abstract

Based on the car-following theory, a new dynamics model for two-lane traffic flow is proposed in this paper through exploring the relationships between micro and macro variables which describe the traffic flow. This model can reflect real traffic more closely since multiple factors are taken into account when modeling the car-following procedure. Numerical results show that the model can correctly simulate the shock waves and the rarefaction waves.
