Abstract

In this paper, we propose a new approach to equation-based TCP-Friendly congestion control. In our approach, not only packet loss event, but also round trip time are taken into account as congestion signals. The congestion avoidance is divided into three phase: increase phase, stable phase, and decrease phase. In increase phase, the sender increases its sending rate by linear; in stable phase, the sender keeps its sending rate; in decrease phase, the sender adjusts its sending rate as the function of packet loss event and round trip time. The condition of the phase transition is the measured round trip time and the packet loss event. Simulation results show that fairness and smoothness are improved.
