Abstract

With the growing people's demands for a variety of daily life and work information at anytime, anywhere, in this paper, we present a new mobile applications scenario. Sensors, a large number of mobile phones, PDAs, and laptop computers selforganize into a hybrid ad hoc and sensor network. A small portion of mobile phone nodes from the hybrid network can be chosen as long-range nodes to communicate with some long distance mobile phone nodes through cellular network. Next, we put forward a mobile scale-free network model for the ad hoc network of the hybrid network. The model takes nodes mobility and complex network characteristic such as growth, preferential attachment, link removals, nodes fitness, and local-world into account. Simulation result shows that comparatively small long-range links can make the network be scale-free.
