Abstract
Accuracy is a crucial parameter in a positioning system. A general method for evaluation of positioning accuracy by the calculation of geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) using partial derivation is proposed in this paper, especially for hybrid positioning systems. A general method is derived in the ideal situation that all the measurement variances are the same firstly, and then a weighted method is presented for the case of different measurement variances. According to the theoretical analysis of this method, the calculation was simplified without matrix operations. Finally, numerical results are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method to evaluate the positioning accuracy in different scenarios.
