A droplet ignition model using Frank-Kamenetsky's approximation

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A droplet ignition model is proposed using Frank-Kamenetsky's approximation for treating the nonlinear reaction term. The result gives the droplet ignition limits as functions of the gas relative velocity, droplet size and ambient gas temperature. It is in qualitative agreement with the experimental observation in references. The proposed model can be used in RANS modeling and LES of two-mode spray combustion.
