Abstract
Based on damage mechanics theory, a non-local approach is established. The effect of stress gradient around the sharp notch is introduced in the damage evolution equation while a new method to calculate the stress gradient is presented. The critical plane theory is considered when calculating stress gradient. The iterative procedure is applied to predict the fatigue life after the damage evolution equation is established.
