abstract = "To solve performance degradation caused by channel fading, we propose a cooperative MAC protocol with error-aware relay selection for wireless ad hoc networks in this paper. In the protocol, the transmission error of data packet caused by channel fading are considered in order to achieve the best cooperative gain in the poor quality channel. In the relay selection process, potential relay nodes satisfying corresponding requirement can compete to sever as final relay node by means of priority selection and collision resolution process. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed protocol outperforms other protocol in terms of packet error rate and the saturation throughput.",
