T1 - A configuration and analysis system for box-joint assembly tooling

N2 - The Box-joint tooling, which can rapidly adapt to the variant products and the modified structures, is a new type of flexible tooling with high reconfigurability. In this paper the reconfigurability of the Box-joint assembly tooling are analyzed in detail, and the configuration and analysis system is developed in the CATIA software. Subsequently the structure and functions of the system are presented, then each module of the system is described in detail. Finally the floor-beams of a certain fuselage are taken as an example to validate the functions of the system. The results indicate that by using this system, workload of tooling designers can be largely reduced, and the design efficiency is siginificantly increased.
