Abstract

An in-house two-phase flow model has been established to simulate the phenomenon of drop impact onto flat liquid film. By solving discretized Navier-Stokes equation with CIP scheme, the velocity field and pressure field are obtained. Then VOF/WLIC method is adopted to capture the free surface. Comparing with SOLA-VOF method and CIP scheme, the applicability of VOF/WLIC method is verified on capturing the moving free surface during drop impact process. At last, different viscosities of water and air are chosen for comparing the effects of different viscosities on numerical results. The numerical results indicate that this CIP-based model is capable of simulating the drop impact phenomena accurately.
