Abstract

This paper presents the design of a conical horn antenna with inhomogeneous metasurface coatings on the interior wall, which is shown to provide symmetrical radiation patterns with low sidelobe and cross-polarization levels over a broad bandwidth. By engineering the metasurfaces with regard to their surface impedances, we demonstrate a metahorn with improved return loss and enhanced radiation characteristics compared to those with uniform liners.
