Abstract

In order to study the 3D imaging effect, the 3D imaging of the system was simulated based on the 3D non-scanning imaging laser radar with Geiger mode avalanche photo diode (APD) arrays. These detectors measured the time of arrival of the reflected light instead of measuring light intensity in a traditional camera. Firstly, the 3D scene was constructed by ray-tracing method. Then the detection probability and the cumulative probability of APD pixels were simulated. On this basis, the method of detected-distance simulation was presented, and the distance image detected by laser radar was obtained. Finally, the 3D scenes were rebuilt by the coordinate conversion with noise and without noise. The 3D images were compared with different noises. The simulation result demonstrates the good effect of the above method. And using the data provided by the simulation, the laser radar system based on APD arrays can be further studied.
