Abstract

Active microwave imaging is a way of detecting targets by measuring the scattering field of the targets and then processing the data to obtain the images. Conventional microwave imaging algorithms ignore the electromagnetic wave coupling inside the concave targets, resulting in serious artifacts in the imaging results. In this paper, we derive the propagation principle of dihedral-type targets under cylindrical scanning based on the ray-tracing algorithm. According to the shooting and bouncing rays (SBR) concept, the three-dimensional forward and backward scattering models are established. At the same time, we propose a complete data processing flow. Simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, and this algorithm may pave a way for solving the imaging problem of more complex concave objects.
