Abstract
Rotating instability is a complex flow instability phenomenon in aeroengine compressors, which often increases the tip aeroacoustic noise or induces high amplitude flow-induced vibration problem. With the aerodynamic load increase and damping decrease, the main engine companies home and abroad have encountered the flow-induced vibration problem caused by rotating instability during the development of new engines, and it is predicted that more severe challenges will arise in the future development of high performance aeroengines. This paper first reviews the development history of compressor flow instabilities in the past 80 years. Then, the research progress of rotating instability in the past 30 years home and abroad is summarized, and the research progress of rotating instability phenomenon, numerical simulation methods, experimental testing technologies, generation mechanisms, affecting factors and control methods are discussed, aiming to further the theoretical understanding of the compressor rotating instability. Finally,we propose our views and future prospects on this phenomenon.
