Abstract

The comprehensive experiment of selective adsorption and purification of toluene and naphthalene with carbon-based adsorbent is designed, which takes the closed cabin such as manned spacecraft as the application scenario. Based on the difference of molecular polarity and molecular size between toluene and naphthalene, carbon-based adsorbents with different pore structures were prepared and the adsorption performance evaluation experiment was carried out. The adsorbents were characterized by modern instrumental analysis methods such as X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption, scanning electron microscope and Fourier infrared spectroscopy, and the selective adsorption mechanism of toluene and naphthalene on the pore structure and surface properties of the adsorbents was explored. The experimental results show that the adsorption selectivity of carbon-based adsorbent for toluene and naphthalene depends on the relationship between pore size and adsorbate molecular size. With the increase of pore size, the adsorption selectivity of naphthalene is higher than that of toluene. And the higher the content of micropores, the more the adsorption performance of naphthalene is affected by toluene.
