Abstract

To investigate the effects of different fuel injection strategies on the combustion performance of pure hydrogen-fueled swirl nozzles, six hydrogen injection schemes were designed. Numerical simulations were performed using the ANSYS-Fluent software, employing the Realizable k-ε turbulence model and the Flamelet Generated Manifold (FGM) combustion model, combined with the GRI-Mech 3. 0 chemical reaction mechanism. Simulations were carried out under ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure conditions, with an air mass flow rate of 0. 013 2 kg / s, a hydrogen mass flow rate of 0. 000 191 kg / s, an equivalence ratio of 0. 5, and a designed pressure drop of 3% . The results show that locating the hydrogen injectors on the leading siole of the swirler blades achieves the highest combustion efficiency of 99. 22% . In Scheme 6, where hydrogen injection holes are directly arranged on the leading side of the swirler blades, the outlet temperature distribution is the most uniform with an Outlet Temperature Distribution Factor (OTDF) of 0. 006, and the NOx emission is relatively low at 17. 83 μL / L. In contrast, Scheme 4, which adopts oblique downward hydrogen injection, exhibits the highest NOx volume fraction of 36. 81 μL / L and relatively poor temperature distribution uniformity with an OTDF of 0. 08. Optimizing hydrogen injection strategies can effectively improve combustion efficiency, enhance temperature uniformity and reduce pollutant emissions. The work provides a valuable reference for the design of pure hydrogen-fueled combustors.
