Abstract

In order to meet the requirements of large range, high precision and high resolution of laser ranging, a high-precision pulsed laser ranging system is designed in this paper. The specific timing chip TDC-GP22 with the minimum resolution of 45 ps was used to realize high precision and high resolution time interval measurement, and adopts high bandwidth amplifier and constant ratio calibration, and high bandwidth amplification circuit and constant ratio timing discrimination method was used to improve system accuracy. The design of hardware and software flow of TDC-GP22 time interval measurement module was discussed in detail. Experimental results show that the measurement resolution of the system is up to 45 ps, the measurement precision within the time interval of 1 μs can reach 60 ps, and the accuracy of the distance measurement can reach 1 cm corresponding to 150 m; the measurement precision of the time interval more than 1 μs can reach 1 ns, and the distance measuring precision of the kilometer level can reach 0.15 m, meeting the application demands of high precision distance measurement.
