Abstract
The control of servo motor can hardly work without accurate rotor position information, and the precision of position detection device and technology will directly affect the performance of the servo system. First, the paper briefly summarizes the classification of servo motor and their requirements for position detection technology. Then, the most frequently used position detection methods in the modern servo system and the newly developed position detection method are introduced, which includes the external sensors, sensor-less technology, pseudo-sensorless method, and embedded position detection method. Besides, the comparison and summarization of the various methods detection characteristics and application adaptability are also presented.
